It had to be one of the most delayed hole-in-one celebrations in the history of the PGA Tour.
Even as television cameras caught John Huh’s ace on Thursday in the World Wide Technology Championship at Mayakoba, the golfer wasn’t ready to buy in. The view from the tee box to the bottom of the flagstick apparently wasn’t great, and there weren’t many fans around the hole, judging by the fact there were louder cheers in the TV booth than on the course.
After Huh’s ball took a couple of small bounces and rolled into the cup on the 139-yard eighth hole at El Camaleon Golf Club, he initially raised his arms, but dropped them quickly, not wanting to celebrate too early.

One of his playing partners, Adam Schenk, raised his hands, but it seemed more like a plea to the hole marshal to confirm. As Huh stared ahead, his hand over his mouth, they apparently got the word of the “1.” But even then, Huh checked one more time, and then did a happy little dance.
According to Golf Channel, Huh had a previous ace several years ago in the Mayakoba event. This hole-in-one led to a 33 on the front nine for the 31-year-old Huh, whose coming off a 2020-21 season in which his best finish was a T-12 at the RSM Classic.
