DJ’S WAYNE GRETZKY-INSPIRED SHOES

Sneak Peek at Dustin Johnson’s Wayne Gretzky-Inspired Shoes

Dustin Johnson and Wayne Gretzky are more than just successful professional athletes in Los Angeles. They’re also soon-to-be relatives.

That’s why Johnson, a past champion of The Genesis Invitational, is sporting a pair of adidas TOUR360 22 shoes with various homage to Gretzky, the former Edmonton Oilers and Los Angeles Kings great, on Thursday at Riviera.

On the lateral side of the right shoe and on the sockliner, there are subtle allusions to Gretzky’s famed number “99,” which is the only number retired by every NHL team. Adidas also included a colorway and three stripes in the Edmonton Oilers’ colors, which he won four Stanley Cups with.

On the left shoe and sockliner of Thursday’s pair is Johnson’s “DJ” insignia. Johnson’s favorite color to wear in competition is navy, so this colorway is a salute to that.

In a statement, Masun Denison, global footwear director, adidas Golf said, “Once Dustin and Wayne started playing together pretty frequently in pro-ams we always had it in our heads to create something unique that celebrated both of them,”

“The TOUR360 22 provides the perfect canvas for something like this and knowing how much hockey players love to play golf, we know this will be exciting for fans of both sports.”

Beginning Friday, February 25, both the hat and the special-edition colorway of our TOUR360 22 will be available in limited quantities on adidas.com, the adidas app, and at select stores globally.
