Putting Tip "Lower Body Stability"

Putting Tip “Lower Body Stability” | Easy Ways to Practice at Home

Christmas isn’t quite over yet because our resident golf pro, Aaron Olson is back for another free swing tip just for you! This week’s tip is to help you with your lower body stability to take your putts to the next level. Plus, it’s perfect for the cold and wet winter months since you can do this drill from the comfort of your own home.

All you will need to get started is a small, carpeted area positioned near a corner so you can use the walls for assistance. Typically, recreational golfers will turn their chest and lower body during their putts. As a result, there is a lot of knee and head movement throughout the stroke.

Opening up toward the target will cause your putting path to be off as well as the clubface direction. Here, you will find it helpful to use an aim stick when executing the drill. Don’t worry if you don’t have one, a yardstick will also work well here.

Place the stick or other object through your belt loops to help get a visualization for how much your hips move during your putt. Your goal will be to setup for the putt and push the aim stick so it is up against on of the walls. If you turn during your stroke, the wall will push the stick out so you can monitor your progress.
